Sedum Roof on a Residential Care Facility in The Hague
On Cees Laseurlaan in The Hague, we installed a 360 m² sedum roof on a residential care complex. In collaboration with Rooftop Revolution and the City of The Hague, an existing bitumen roof was transformed into a sustainable green roof that promotes biodiversity, collects rainwater, and extends the roof’s lifespan.
Prior to construction, we organized a residents’ meeting to explain the benefits of a green roof and the available grant options. Thanks to the residents’ enthusiasm, we collectively decided to create a greener living environment.

A greener view and greater comfort
Once construction is complete, residents will look out onto a green sedum roof instead of gray roofing material. This not only provides a more pleasant view, but also contributes to a greener and more attractive living environment.
In addition, the sedum roof offers various practical benefits. It buffers rainwater, reducing the strain on the sewer system during heavy downpours; it protects the roof covering from the elements and UV radiation; and it helps keep the restaurant area beneath the roof cooler on hot days. Furthermore, the green roof creates a valuable habitat for bees, butterflies, and other insects, thereby enhancing biodiversity in the city.
