Receive subsidy for a green roof in Zandvoort
If you have been thinking about a green roof for a while, now is the right time to install one in Zandvoort.
If you want to claim the subsidy, there are some conditions attached to it. Below we have listed those conditions for you:
- Provide a quote for the purchase and installation of the green roof, this should be submitted to the municipality
- If you have received any other subsidies for the construction of the green roof, you must also show these to the Zandvoort municipality
- Are you going to build a green roof as a collective? Then submit all addresses to the municipality
- If you are renting the property where the green roof will be imposed then a landlord declaration is required
How much subsidy can I get?
In total, you can be reimbursed 25 euros per square meter of green roof, rising to 1,000 euros of subsidy per address. That means a maximum of 40 square meters is subsidized by the municipality.
If you have decided to build the green roof as a collective then more subsidies can be obtained, a total maximum of 5,000 euros.
The grant may total up to 50% of the total cost of the green roof.
There is an exception that allows you to claim more subsidy from the municipality of Zandvoort for the green roof, a subsidy of 35 euros per square meter of green roof. Your roof must meet the following conditions to obtain the subsidy of 35 euros per square meter:
- The green roof should consist of at least 50% non-sedum plants (additional contribution to biodiversity)
- The roof should also support solar panels
- The water-carrying capacity of the green roof should be at least 50 liters per square meter

The extensive green roof (the green roof as you know it with almost only sedum plants) requires very little, if any, maintenance. The intensive green roof needs structural maintenance because shrubs and other large plants often grow on it.
