Green roof removal

A green roof has many benefits, but there comes a time when it needs to be removed. For example, during roof maintenance, in the event of leaks, or if you want to install solar panels. In such cases, removing the sedum vegetation (and the underlying layers) is specialist work.
Groendakspecialist offers a complete and professional service for this. We work for both private individuals and businesses throughout the Netherlands. Our professionals first inspect the roof and create a clear plan together with you. We then carry out the job efficiently, ensuring your roof is left clean and undamaged.

How we proceed
At Green Roof Specialist, we remove green roofs quickly, safely and professionally. We use powerful suction trucks (vacuum trucks) with long hoses. This allows us to reach even roofs that are difficult to access, up to 100 meters away. The vegetation and substrate are sucked up into the truck with one movement. This keeps the roof clean and no mess is created. Afterwards, we clean the roof and check the substrate.
We use modern machines with strong suction and no sharp tools. This keeps your roofing intact. Our people also bring hand tools to finish edges and corners neatly, but most of the work is done by machine. That makes the process fast and efficient, even for larger areas.
All materials are disposed of sustainably. Organic materials such as sedum, moss and substrate are composted or reused. Other residual materials such as gravel, insulation or old roof layers go to specialized processors. We always ensure neat disposal and take environmental regulations into account.
Why remove a green roof?
A green roof can age or show damage over time. Common reasons for removing a green roof include roof renovation, repairing leaks or renewing the roofing. Also, when installing solar panels or other installations, the green roof sometimes has to give way temporarily. And if the vegetation is old or has died, it no longer has much value. In all these cases, Green Roof Specialist takes care of a neat and safe removal.
We always look at the condition of the roof first. If the roofing or insulation also needs replacing, it’s best to address that right away. That avoids double work. We dispose of all materials separately so that they can be reused or sustainably processed as much as possible. Substrate and plant residues can often be composted – so you also contribute to a circular solution.
