Subsidy for a green roof in Eindhoven
The Municipality of Eindhoven is offering subsidies for green roofs as part of climate adaptation measures. With this, the municipality wants to better capture rainwater and make the city greener.
For a green roof in Eindhoven, you can get a subsidy of about €25 per m², up to a maximum amount per application. The amount of the subsidy depends, among other things, on the water storage and the type of roof.
In most cases, there is a minimum area and requirements for water storage. Also, the property often must meet certain conditions and the grant must be applied for prior to construction.

Terms
We review your grant application according to the applicable regulation, as outlined in the grant regulations. Below you will find the requirements listed:
- The area to be greened covers a minimum area of 10 square meters.
- Work was performed as of Jan. 1, 2019. Work prior to this period is not eligible for funding.
- You are the owner of the area for which you are applying for a grant.
- The roof must be at least five years old; new construction does not qualify.
- You have not received a previous grant for similar work.
- Keep photos of the work done.
- The green roof should remain in place for at least ten years
- The measures taken must not cause a nuisance to others.
- You must provide access for inspection of the work.
- You must meet the water storage standard of 30 liters per square meter for a green roof. Make sure you can prove this standard, such as on your supplier’s invoice.

An extensive green roof (with mainly sedum plants) requires minimal maintenance, while an intensive green roof requires regular maintenance due to the presence of shrubs and other large plants.
