Our partners
2021
The founders of Green Roof Specialist, Gert-Jan and Ruben, lay the first green roof. This project marked the start of our mission to green the Netherlands with sustainable and ecological solutions.
The 50th green roof is completed, and the demand for green roofs continues to grow. More and more people want to contribute to a sustainable future.
2022
Our team expands to four subject matter experts, dedicated to everything around green roofs – from consulting and design to installation and maintenance.
Ruben continues as an entrepreneur in Concrete Construction and Gert-Jan continues with Green Roof Specialist. We move into a growing location in Monster, making storage and local production a reality.
2023
By 2023, we invested in improving our materials and tools, including elevators and other innovative equipment, to make green roof construction more efficient.
These improvements not only help us work faster, but also contribute to the safety and sustainability of the way we work.
2024
Since 2024, we have been working with an eight-person team entirely organically by using circular materials and as many native plant species as possible, and avoiding mineral wool in our green roofs.
This step is a conscious decision to promote local biodiversity and soil life, contributing to a more sustainable and ecologically sound green roof.
In doing so, we set a new standard in our industry and create roofs that contribute optimally to nature and the environment.
2025
By 2025, Green Roof Specialist has developed into a mature and versatile roofing specialist. We have invested heavily in our team: experienced professionals with the right certifications, in-depth knowledge of structures and broad experience with a variety of roof types. From flat and pitched roofs to retention roofs, natural roofs and complete roof gardens.
Our focus has broadened to larger and more complex, mostly corporate projects, where design, execution and maintenance come together in an integrated way. At the same time, we remain true to our roots: high-quality work for private individuals and smaller corporate clients, with structural attention to biodiversity, circularity and long-term quality.
Green Roof Specialist in 2025 stands for craftsmanship without concessions. We work according to biological and ecological principles and realize roofs that not only look green upon completion, but also continue to function technically and ecologically in the long term. No quick fixes, but sustainable systems that make sense.
